How Surefire Propyzamide 500 SC Works

Propyzamide is a systemic herbicide absorbed through the roots and translocated throughout the plant. It works by stunting the growth of winter grass, particularly germinating seeds emerging in Autumn. Once growth is halted, winter grass cannot spread or reproduce, allowing your couch or buffalo lawn to maintain density and colour through the cooler months.

Critical Irrigation Requirements

To achieve lethal uptake, Propyzamide must be moved into the root zone and fully solubilised:

• Immediately irrigate with 12–25 mm of water after application.
• Apply another 12–25 mm of irrigation 24 hours later.

This water volume is essential, not just for incorporation, but to ensure the active ingredient dissolves completely. Partial solubilisation results in sub‑lethal absorption and poor control.

Best Conditions for Use

• Apply in Autumn / Winter before or during early winter grass germination.
• Target cool, moist soil for optimal uptake.
• Works best on young, actively growing winter grass.
